Development of models for additively manufactured actuators using compliant Wren mechanism

Compliant Wren mechanisms (CWM) constitute specific compliant structures of particular interest. Derived from mechanisms, they can exhibit a large variety motions, quasi translation to rotation. In this paper, the development models for analysis and synthesis CWM is considered. A kinematic model introduced first assess all possible motions when used as an actuator. Then static stress expressions are derived help their design. These derivations achieved two types geometries, corresponding geometries filigree structures, whose manufacturing difficult consider without additive manufacturing. work on production using selective laser melting (SLM) then ensure reliability production. As proof concept, pneumatically actuated component developed tested. It composed different geometries. offers possibility obtain rotation single pressure input. The investigated finite element experiments additively manufactured structures.
